ROBERT LEBECK (*1929), one of the most renowned German photo journalists, worked for several big newspapers and magazines, often leaving a remarkable imprint on their looks and visual points of view, most significantly his influence on the popular news magazine Stern. His work shows a wide range from press photography to portrait art and travel photography. Lebeck stands for photo journalism not only as a photographer himself but also as a collector of early works from the history of photography and documentary/picture story. On the occasion of his 85th birthday, in a collaboration with the Stern, Flo Peters Gallery presents rare vintage prints next to well-known scenes and portraits from Lebeck’s more than 50 years of journeys around the globe – witnesses of their times, always with a close and personal focus on people and their situations.
