Tom Baril was born in Connecticut in 1952 and studied photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He assisted Robert Mapplethorpe for 15 years as his master printer. His work includes urban architecture, seascapes and detailed botanical photographs. He created legendary, iconic cityscapes of Boston, New York and San Francisco. His work can be found in collections and museums worldwide, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Amsterdam Stedlijk Museum.
